Chapter 358: The Wall of Gods and Demons

Chapter 358: The Wall of Gods and Demons

The wall was so tall and grand that if it weren’t in the Holy Emperor's Palace, Shi Hao might have thought it was a mountain blocking his view.

The wall was entirely gray, lacking any vibrant colors, and exuded an ancient and weathered aura. The carvings on each stone door were incredibly lifelike, almost as if they had a soul.

Shi Hao pondered for a long time, unsure of what lay behind the stone doors. He even thought he heard the roar of beasts, which was quite startling.

He soared into the air to get a better look at the wall, and eventually saw a large inscription: "The Wall of Gods and Demons."

This made him ponder. The name was not ordinary; what kind of place was this?

Shi Hao descended and examined the stone doors one by one. Counting carefully, there were a total of 1,808 doors, though some were particularly unique. For instance, doors with carvings of true dragons and vermillion birds were sealed and could not be opened.

“They are too powerful, hence there are no real doors; the path is blocked,” Shi Hao mused as he wandered around without taking any action. He vaguely sensed that there might be tremendous danger here.

He returned to his Nirvana cocoon and did not come out.

As for the Divine Stone, it stayed vigilantly watching him, guarding the void spring, wary of him trying to compete again.

Shi Hao adjusted his state and approached the Wall of Gods and Demons once more. He suddenly pushed open one of the stone doors and immediately felt a primal aura, as if he had returned to ancient times.

He strode forward, and the stone door behind him slammed shut with a loud clang.

Shi Hao was taken aback to find a gigantic arena ahead. It was entirely black, as if blood had dried, resulting in a murky and dark appearance.

The atmosphere of this arena was chilling, as if it were from ancient times, facing numerous primordial beasts that seemed to be watching, anticipating a grand battle.

At this point, Shi Hao was experienced and unflappable. He believed that the items left behind by the Fire Clan's Holy Emperor should not be intended to harm his people.

Approaching the arena, he noticed a large stone with inscriptions that recorded some alarming details.

“The Wall of Gods and Demons, The Woe of Antiquity.”

These eight characters were like a knife thrust into his heart, making him feel cold. What did this mean?

Below were some additional words, but they were unrelated to the eight characters and did not explain anything, only noting that the arena was extremely frightening.

This was a place of challenge, with tremendous danger, warning future generations not to venture in recklessly. It was meant for prodigies with rare talents.

“Only by overcoming 108 challenges and achieving consecutive victories in 108 arenas can one qualify to walk that path.”

Such a statement was shrouded in mystery.

Shi Hao was puzzled. What kind of path was this? He vaguely felt it was unrelated to the Holy Emperor's Palace and seemed to have been inserted mysteriously.

“Could this be a wall from the ancestors of Little Red or the Fire Clan's Holy Emperor, deliberately buried to prevent too many people from participating?”

The place was very strange and full of doubts. It felt like being in a foggy field with immense secrets, and he wasn’t sure whether he should explore further.

He then chuckled wryly. Since he had already entered, he had made his decision, so why hesitate?

Shi Hao stepped into the black arena. As soon as he entered, he immediately heard the roars of primordial beasts, as if he were in the wilderness.

Indeed, it was more terrifying than any wilderness he had encountered. The black arena was enormous, with pairs of eyes glowing in its depths.

“Roar!”

A beast charged out, its entire body crimson, engulfed in flames, with white teeth exposed, and it lunged fiercely at Shi Hao.

Shi Hao did not hold back. He threw a powerful punch, using immense strength that made the void tremble.

The beast, resembling a wolf but more ferocious and covered in flame runes, seemed to recognize the threat. It sidestepped in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the attack.

Shi Hao’s punch was forceful and heavy, the wind from it roaring and shaking the arena, causing continuous rumbling.

“Interesting,” he murmured. One reason was that the beast avoided his punch, and the other was that the black arena was surprisingly sturdy, capable of withstanding his force.

Even if a stone mountain stood in front of him, he could punch it down without any unexpected results.

“Roar!”

From a distance, roars of beasts continued, rising and falling, with pairs of eyes opening, intensely bright, charging out of the darkness toward Shi Hao.

This was a pack of beasts, not just wolves, but also feathered tigers, fire rhinoceroses, horned dragons, and others, all extremely powerful and unusual. Even Shi Hao was startled by the number of beasts, which was no less than a hundred.

For him, though, even if ordinary strong practitioners were slightly higher in level, they would be no problem to kill.

However, what lay before him was not just one or two beasts, but a whole group, numbering over a hundred, with terrifying runes swirling around them, charging forward. This was indeed intimidating.

Moreover, the beasts moved in a rhythm, forming a battle array, becoming a formidable whole. Such coordination was terrifying.

Yet, the more dangerous the situation, the calmer he became. Hundreds of beasts? He had faced more in the past battles in the North Sea.

“Boom!”

Shi Hao did not hold back and used the runes from the primordial true resolve, simple and direct, ancient and grand.

He struck with a palm, as if all the beasts were roaring together, countless ancient beasts appearing one after another, emitting divine light and crackling, merging into the battle array ahead.

Crossing the Cang Sea

This strike was massive, severing the path of the hundreds of beasts, disrupting their rhythm, and then Shi Hao soared into the air, charging in.

“Bang!”

A foot stomped down, causing the void to tremble. The beast resembling a wolf, wrapped in red flames, was the first to bear the brunt. It was very powerful, at the late stage of the Rune Mark realm, but it could not withstand Shi Hao.

This time it could not dodge because there were beast shadows everywhere, leaving no retreat. With a loud crash, the two clashed, and it howled, exploding in the void.

Filled with unwillingness and despair, it turned into a rain of light.

“Transformed by runes,” Shi Hao was greatly surprised. At the site, a yellowed piece of paper was burning, turning to ashes.

What kind of method was this? It was truly astonishing. Ordinary rune beasts were one thing, but this one was incredibly strong. If brought to the outside world, it would also be considered a strong practitioner in the Rune Mark realm.

To think that someone could manifest such combat power with rune paper was extraordinary.

Shi Hao fought his way into the array, continuously delivering powerful blows, killing with relentless force, as if in an ancient battlefield, sparing no effort.

The place was very strange. He had to do his utmost to resolve the battle quickly, as who knew what else lay ahead.

He felt he had indeed stepped into a bizarre trap, which was somewhat ominous.

The situation proved to be frightening. Each beast was a piece of yellowed paper that, when killed, self-ignited in mid-air, turning to ashes. What a terrifying method!

Each beast in the Rune Mark realm could be preserved from ancient times with just a piece of paper. If it were just one or two pieces, it would be fine, but this was over a hundred pieces.

It was evident how extraordinary the creator was, which was truly shocking.

Shi Hao, unmatched in strength, seemed to be in a bloodthirsty state, facing enemies from all directions, battling all strong practitioners alone.

In the end, all the hundred beasts were killed, leaving the ground covered in ashes, with various treasure techniques dissipated, unable to harm him in the slightest.

However, he did not feel the joy of victory, as this was merely a confrontation with a rune beast.

“Roar!”

Suddenly, a deep growl came from the depths of the arena, and a pair of terrifying eyes lit up, filled with madness and killing intent, surging towards him like a tidal wave.

A pure-blooded creature.

Shi Hao immediately became alert and prepared himself.

Even though he was strong now, he did not dare to be careless against such a creature. One could never be sure if a legendary being that had broken through extreme realms might appear.

It was a raging ape, with a white head and red feet, incredibly fierce, standing about ten zhang high.

It advanced step by step, causing the arena to tremble, continuously emitting rumbling sounds. A vast killing intent swept through the area.

A Zhu Yan.

It turned out to be an ancient Zhu Yan, extremely brutal, known for its murderous nature. Such creatures were rare, and it was unexpected to encounter one here.

This was different from the Furball. It was now certain that the Furball’s bloodline was special, as it had dragon horns that were not fully developed, and its head was not white but golden all over.

“Roar!” The Zhu Yan roared and charged forward quickly, fierce and domineering. It swung its fist, bringing with it a violent aura, with runes filling the air and sweeping toward Shi Hao.

This was extremely violent and almost unstoppable. Even ordinary pure-blooded creatures would not dare to face it head-on.

Shi Hao was resolute. The ancient Zhu Yan was truly formidable, known as a great fiend. Its physical form was terrifying, almost invincible even in ancient times.

“Boom!”

Shi Hao soared into the air and struck with his fist. He did not dodge but took the blow head-on. The black arena seemed to shake like an earthquake, erupting with deafening roars and upheaval.

The large and small figures collided in mid-air, and such a powerful strike was indeed astonishing.

Between the two fists, lightning erupted, like countless golden serpents darting in all directions, with various symbols flashing and attacking everywhere.

Shi Hao landed, and the Zhu Yan also descended, but the latter retreated three steps with a “thud-thud-thud,” each step causing the arena to shake.

Although Shi Hao had the upper hand, he was still shaken. The Zhu Yan was so strong that it did not even crack under his full force. Even a pure-blooded creature would be injured by such a powerful blow.

“You're a freak. You can actually match the Zhu Yan in strength,” the Divine Stone said, appearing and wobbling into view.

“You seem to know a lot about it,” Shi Hao replied without turning around.

“In the past, the Zhu Yan clashed with the Western Sect, causing a huge commotion and attracting the sect’s legendary patriarch, who had lived for endless years, to subdue it,” the Divine Stone explained.

Shi Hao’s eyes flickered with surprise. The stone had previously feigned ignorance, but it was clear now that it knew quite a bit of secret information.

“Besides its seventy-two transformations, the Zhu Yan’s body refinement technique is unparalleled in ancient times. It often tore apart gods and demons, feeding on the strongest beings in the heavens,” the Divine Stone continued.

From its perspective, Shi Hao's ability to contend with the Zhu Yan in physical combat was incredibly abnormal. Even the Western Sect’s Diamond Body could not gain an advantage against the Zhu Yan.

“What kind of place is this? I feel like it is unrelated to the Holy Emperor’s Palace,” Shi Hao asked the Divine Stone.

The Divine Stone hesitated and said, “You might encounter a surprise. This wall generally does not appear in the world. Defeat this Zhu Yan first, and then I can be certain.”
