The beasts roared as a golden chariot came racing forward, dazzling and bright as if a blinding sun was sweeping across the street. Eight fierce beasts, each powerful and far from ordinary draft animals, pulled the golden chariot towards the Bone Worm Auction House.
The ferocity was overwhelming. These eight beasts were formidable, not mere draft animals but creatures with horns and cold, sharp scales, exuding a chilling aura of slaughter. They had seen many battles and survived countless life-and-death struggles.
"Who is that?"
People gasped in surprise. Such a golden chariot was generally reserved for those of royal blood or high nobility, with an exceedingly exalted status.
"This is the Lord of the Heavenly Fusion," someone recognized the emblem on the chariot and couldn't help but change their expression, showing deep respect and fear for this noble lord.
Alongside the chariot was a squad of elite soldiers clad in black armor, solemn and imposing, with a battle-hardened air only forged on the battlefield.
The golden chariot came to a stop. The eight fierce beasts did not roar but remained motionless, their massive bodies creating an intense pressure. Even the two dragons at the entrance of the Bone Worm Auction House had their pupils contract, on high alert.
With a whoosh, the curtain of the chariot was pulled aside, and a tall man stepped out. His dark golden battle armor gleamed with a faint light, and he appeared as a towering black mountain.
He was relatively young, not yet thirty, with a thick stubble on his chin that gave him a rugged appearance. His gaze was fierce and aggressive.
"The Lord of the Heavenly Fusion, although only twenty-five years old, is already a prominent lord stationed on the border, having achieved numerous victories in battles against the Wood Tribe," someone whispered.
This was an exceptionally young lord with a notable military record. His surname was Shi, from the direct lineage of the Stone Tribe, and it was rumored he had a chance to vie for the Emperor's throne, making him highly regarded.
"Don't disappoint me. I came specifically for that Blood Demon Measure," he said as he strode into the Bone Worm Auction House with powerful strides, stirring up a whirlwind.
The presence of such a high-ranking figure in the capital naturally astonished everyone.
"Perhaps he’s here to celebrate the Emperor's birthday," someone muttered.
Shi Hao stood in front of the auction house, not rushing inside, but observing and listening to the discussions about prominent figures in the capital.
Petals of flowers fell like rain, sparkling and fragrant, scattered across the street. A palanquin arrived in the air, drawn by auspicious birds, clearly indicating the high status of the visitor, causing a stir among the crowd.
"The Sixteenth Princess has arrived," people exclaimed.
This princess was favored by the Emperor and was well-known in the capital. She was graceful and charming, with bright eyes and a beautiful smile, entering the Bone Worm Auction House accompanied by several ladies.
One after another, more and more people arrived, all of notable status.
Shi Hao felt he had gained a lot from just standing at the door. Through others' whispers, he learned about many famous figures in the capital, which was very valuable to him.
Eventually, he too entered the Bone Worm Auction House, which was magnificently decorated with golden beams and jade pillars, and the space was enormous and meticulously arranged.
Upon entering the main hall, everyone was greeted by a towering golden skeleton, ten zhang high and thirty zhang long, with runes glowing brightly, exuding a fierce and intimidating aura that shook the heart.
This was the skeleton of a fierce beast, perfectly preserved. The original rune bones radiated mysterious power, providing divine strength to the entire auction house.
It was a Yazhi.
It was indeed a Yazhi, a very large and fearsome beast. There’s a saying, "A Yazhi always seeks revenge," referring to such a beast. In ancient times, it was notorious and even deities would avoid it; no one wanted to provoke it.
Though this skeleton was not a pure-blood Yazhi, its runic fluctuations indicated immense power. It was displayed here, not yet crafted into the strongest magical weapon, which was quite astonishing.
The hall was crowded with people from various places, all strong and of notable status. There were men and women, old and young, all of distinguished backgrounds.
Those who could enter here were usually from prestigious families, and some were powerful loose cultivators. It was rare to see a plain-looking youth like Shi Hao in such a place.
At this age, only members of prominent families or descendants of nobles could enter, as the auction house had high standards, and ordinary people found it hard to participate in the bidding. The items on display were of exceptional quality.
Shi Hao curiously observed everyone, noting that some did not sit in the hall but went to private rooms. He decided to do the same.
"Young master, are you sure you want to enter this VIP room?" a young attendant asked with a forced smile.
"What's the problem? Is there an issue?" Shi Hao asked plainly.
He had arrived at a purple sandalwood door, just as he pushed it open and glanced inside, he was momentarily dazzled by the luxurious array of crystal-like materials.
"This room is very expensive. Ordinary people don't dare to enter. Are you sure you want to go in?" the attendant asked, a hint of disdain in his eyes. His silk clothes were very shiny.
Such snobbery existed everywhere. The attendant thought that this youth, dressed in beast skin, was too shabby to enter such a VIP room.
"This VIP room is not occupied, I booked it," at that moment, a youth in silver battle armor came over, pointing to the room in front of Shi Hao. His armor radiated a brilliant light.
Behind him were several young men and women, ranging from fifteen to twenty years old, all remarkable. The men were strikingly handsome, and the women were stunningly beautiful.
"Young Lord," the attendant quickly bowed and flattered. This group of people was of high status, especially the youth, who was a descendant of the Western Underworld Duke.
"I booked it," Shi Hao pushed the door and entered. By nature, he never compromised or lowered himself. Having even killed a revered spirit, he was indifferent to this group.
"You!" The descendant of the Western Underworld Duke looked at him in surprise. How dare this plain-looking youth challenge him?
"Young master, please leave. I don't think you can enter here. If you just want to broaden your horizons, go to the hall; there might be a place for you there," the attendant said with a forced smile, making a gesture to ask him to leave.
"Is it just a VIP room? I've been to underwater dragon palaces. To think this shabby room tries to show off luxury in front of me—it's vulgar," Shi Hao sneered, then scolded the attendant, "Do you know, you’re looking down on others with your narrow perspective?"
"What—what are you saying?" The attendant’s face turned red. Although he meant to convey that, being pointed out, he felt a bit embarrassed and angry.
The young men and women nearby were also surprised, and the young lord in silver robes stopped, sensing that Shi Hao was not someone to mess with.
"To enter here, you must bid on at least five valuable items. Can you do that?" the attendant said, with a look of disdain and a bit of arrogance.
"Boom!"
Before he could finish, he was blinded by a brilliant blue light, and then his nose was struck painfully, as if hit by a brick. He cried out in agony and fell to the ground, looking up.
The nearby youths gasped in shock. Who was this person, and why was the brick he used so dazzlingly blue, resembling sea-blue jade?
Using such a premium material to hit someone was too extravagant. Who was this person?
After the attendant's scream, he noticed the sea-blue jade on the ground. He had seen such things in the auction house before, and even a small piece had once fetched an astonishing sky-level price.
The fact that the young man had just smashed such a large piece of sea-blue jade, using it as a brick, was truly extravagant and arrogant—what a wealthy and ostentatious tycoon he must be.
"Waiter, bring some wine," Shi Hao called out in the room.
"I’m not a waiter," the attendant wanted to shout but swallowed it back. He respectfully picked up the rare sea-blue jade and delivered it inside, then hurried off to fetch some fine wine.
He was extremely frustrated but had no choice but to serve carefully.
A few people nearby were dumbfounded, especially the young lord in silver robes. He opened his mouth, unsure of what to say. Given the rarity of the sea-blue jade, even his grandfather, the Western Underworld Duke, would be astonished, as he couldn't possibly produce such an item, let alone use it as a brick to hit someone.
The commotion reached the Bone Worm Auction House. An appraiser personally arrived and, upon confirming that it was genuine sea-blue jade, his eyes practically burned with excitement. He scolded the attendant loudly, then brought in several elderly men, apologizing profusely and inquiring whether Shi Hao intended to auction the rare stone.
“Wasn’t the auction list already set? Can new items be added last minute?” Shi Hao was surprised.
“Special items can indeed be treated specially,” one of the elderly men said excitedly.
“Alright then. If my funds are insufficient during the auction, I’ll let you auction it,” Shi Hao replied.
The troublesome “waiter” was reprimanded and replaced by two beautiful young women who served Shi Hao wine, treating him as a distinguished guest.
The room was lavishly decorated with various rare jade ornaments that shone brilliantly, but in comparison to the sea-blue jade, they seemed quite mundane.
One wall of the room was left open, with a curtain drawn aside, providing a clear view of the auction hall, allowing guests to follow the proceedings and bid easily.
Soon, the auction began, hosted by an elderly man and a captivatingly beautiful woman. The first item immediately caught Shi Hao’s attention.
Upon closer inspection, he was stunned, his heart racing uncontrollably.
“Original True Solution,” he widened his eyes. The translucent bone piece exuded a warm and gentle glow, looking incredibly similar.
However, this was a fragment of the bone, incomplete and missing many parts. It was only a quarter the size of a complete Original True Solution, but its material was strikingly similar.
“This is a rare bone, of unparalleled hardness. No matter the method, it cannot be destroyed. It might be a Heavenly Bone,” the elderly man on stage announced.
“What? Heavenly Bone?” The auction hall erupted in excitement. Everyone leaned forward, their eyes sparkling like flashes of lightning.
“Is it really a Heavenly Bone? If so, I’ll pay any price to secure it,” a woman’s voice rang out. Though slightly overbearing, her voice was melodious and enchanting, causing hearts to flutter.
“The auction has just begun, and they are already presenting a Heavenly Bone, not even saving it for last. What a surprise!” people marveled.
Shi Hao was, of course, highly focused, his divine vision wide open as he closely examined the translucent bone. The aura was indeed very similar to the Original True Solution.
He was immediately tempted. Such a treasure was something he must win at the auction; it could not fall into someone else’s hands.
This time, he felt confident because he had acquired many rare treasures overseas, especially in the underwater merfolk city, where his gains had been substantial.
