"Follow behind me. You must survive." An elder instructed all the disciples before letting out a roar, charging ahead and opening the path by killing those in the way.
Outside the Heaven Mending Pavilion, shadows flickered. Apart from humans, there were various other beings, all waiting for an opportunity. If such a vast holy ground were to collapse, the divine treasures left behind would be unimaginable.
In addition to that, they were all eagerly awaiting the great fortune that had been rarely seen in countless years. Many had brought their young descendants for this.
"Some princes and nobles' children are inside that pure land. They surely hold all the advantages."
"Even the Human Emperor is stirred, planning for his offspring. This must be real."
Outside the Heaven Mending Pavilion, numerous beings surrounded the area, already in motion, preparing to charge in.
"Boom!"
The battle erupted instantly. Symbols intertwined, and the elder who had first charged out was soon covered in blood, heavily injured due to the sheer number of opponents.
Behind him, a group of disciples turned pale. This path was blocked; there was no way through.
"Kill! Break through from that direction!"
In another direction, more than a dozen elders led the way, all bathed in blood. They activated their precious tools, flattening a mountain and carving out a bloody path, leading a group of disciples in an attempt to break through.
"No one will leave here alive!" In the distance, an old man shouted. He flew through the air, standing on an ancient beast hide, wielding a golden divine sword, and slashed downward.
"Boom!"
Mountains shattered, rivers altered course, and the power of that sword was terrifying beyond measure. The ground split open, creating a dark abyss, where many disciples perished, and several elders were killed.
"The Tuoba family, so you’ve come after all."
From within the Heaven Mending Pavilion, a lion’s roar echoed. Lei Zu’s hair and beard stood on end like steel needles. His entire body crackled with electric light, and he wielded a Thunder God Hammer, standing on a divine feather as he swiftly approached.
"Boom!" The purple Thunder God Hammer flashed, releasing a thick bolt of lightning, forcing the man back. Lei Zu then charged forward.
The Tuoba family had nearly established an ancient kingdom in ancient times, but their ancestral spirit was slain by the Heaven Mending Pavilion’s divine vine, causing their downfall and a deep-seated grudge against the holy land.
"The Heaven Mending Pavilion is doomed today. Even the gods cannot save you!" the old man from the Tuoba family holding the golden divine sword shouted.
"Anyone who dares touch the Heaven Mending Pavilion will pay in blood. I’ll kill you first!" Lei Zu roared, his body entwined with lightning as he lunged forward.
"Boom!"
The sky filled with dark clouds, and heavy rain poured down, shocking everyone. Lei Zu had directly summoned lightning from the heavens.
"This is bad!" The elder from the Tuoba family was alarmed. He hadn’t expected two clouds to drift together at such a crucial moment, which was highly unfavorable for him. For those who controlled lightning, summoning storm clouds greatly amplified their power.
Sure enough, as the two clouds collided, a massive bolt of lightning, as large as a mountain, struck down toward the ground.
"Ah!"
The elder from the Tuoba family screamed in fury, dodging with all his might, but could he outrun lightning? In a split second, he was struck, his body charred, coughing up blood, and he fled rapidly.
"Kill! Children, break through with me! Even if I die, I will get you out!" Lei Zu shouted.
The battle had only just begun in one direction. All around the Heaven Mending Pavilion, figures were moving, with numerous elders leading disciples in breakout attempts.
In times of great disaster, the only way to survive was to fight to the death. There was no other path.
Deep within the Heaven Mending Pavilion, some elders had been struggling for a long time, but it was in vain. The golden void passage created by the sacred spirit had been destroyed, clearly by an incredibly powerful being.
At this moment, while battles raged on the ground, the aerial combat was even more terrifying, instilling fear. No one could comprehend the level of the combatants in the sky.
The divine vine soared to the heavens, rising above the clouds to face several powerful beings. Its entire body radiated a brilliant green glow, and dazzling light erupted from it as order symbols emerged one after another, floating around it.
"You’ve lived for an incredibly long time. Sealed as a god in ancient times, you became famous in a single battle, and you’re still alive today. But even glory must fade." On a golden avenue, a humanoid creature spoke.
The sacred spirit of the Heaven Mending Pavilion remained indifferent, with nothing more to say.
"I’m not here for anything else. I only want the divine seed. Since you are about to die anyway, why not leave it to me? In return, I’ll do my best to protect the Heaven Mending Pavilion." A massive fiendish bird, shrouded in black mist, filled the sky. Its two eyes, as bright as twin blood moons, glowed eerily in the darkness.
"Do you even know what credibility is, Swallowing Sky Sparrow? You are a mutated species. Your master nurtured and enlightened you, allowing you to evolve into a pureblood creature. And what did you do? When your master, the Saintly Roc, was old and frail, you devoured him!" someone in the distance sneered, revealing the truth, infuriating the fiendish bird, which surged with black mist, filling the mountains and rivers.
"You’re nearing your end. Why not hand over the divine seed to me? You know my identity. I come from the Southern Desolate Divine Mountain. I will not break my word and will do my best to protect the Heaven Mending Pavilion." On the golden avenue, the humanoid creature radiated divine brilliance, speaking calmly.
Everyone, whether in the sky or on the ground, gasped. The Southern Desolate Divine Mountain was rumored to be the dwelling place of gods.
The ancient vine remained silent. Having lived from ancient times until now, it had seen too many things, even fought against gods, its blood staining the heavens. At this moment, who could it trust?
"Does being from a divine mountain make you special?" In the north, a massive fiendish beast appeared, also shrouded in mist. Its eyes, glowing green like torches, blazed fiercely.
It exuded overwhelming killing intent. Its body was so enormous that the clouds in the sky were mere specks compared to its size. If not for the mist concealing it, those clouds would not have been enough to hide it.
"Qiong Qi, you may be a mutated species, but one cannot help but marvel at your ability to seize the wonders of heaven and earth, rivaling even the strongest. But what did you do? You once served as the ancestral spirit of an ancient kingdom, yet after absorbing all the power of faith, you refused to remain there and devoured the entire population. Truly vicious!"
The distant voice came again, exposing the past of the Qiong Qi hidden in the mist.
"Boom!" The world trembled. A massive claw covered the heavens, descending upon a specific direction, blotting out the sky and overwhelming everything. The Qiong Qi had made its move.
It was terrifying. The power of that claw, intertwined with symbols, was enough to shatter an entire mountain range. This was the fiendish might of
Everyone was stunned—the guardian spirit of Xiaoxitian was still alive.
Xiaoxitian was a powerful force, both a sect and an ancient kingdom, a terrifyingly formidable entity. Their guardian spirit was undoubtedly an ancient being.
And it came from the Archaic Divine Mountain, Mount Yi.
Mount Yi was one of the most famous Archaic Divine Mountains in the world. It was rumored to be the home of creatures like True Howling and the Golden-Winged Roc.
The humanoid being sat in the void, with a divine halo behind its head, its body bathed in sacred radiance. It appeared solemn and powerful, resisting the massive claw of Qiong Qi.
"If I hand over the divine seed, will you all retreat?" the old vine finally spoke, still calm, neither joyful nor sorrowful, unaffected by the impending demise.
"Unless you give the divine seed solely to me, I will still have to fight them, and this place may be destroyed," said the humanoid creature from the Southern Fallen Divine Mountain, standing on a golden road that stretched for tens of thousands of miles.
The being from Mount Yi also spoke, "Brother Vine, don’t overthink it. You should understand that many people have been waiting for your death, sending their children into Butian Pavilion to await the cleansing rites."
"Yes, it’s cruel, but it’s the truth. Butian Pavilion should understand this and thus never sent them away."
The Swallowing Sky Sparrow, whose body spanned thousands or tens of thousands of miles, covering the sky and blocking the sun, sneered, "For centuries, you’ve pretended to be weak, setting up traps to kill the strong. But now, you can't repeat those tricks anymore."
The old vine sighed. In the past, it feigned weakness to slay its enemies, but now it had no strength left, and the same tactic wouldn’t work again.
"Then let's fight!" it shouted decisively. The gourd vine began to glow, and the green-skinned gourd emitted ripples, as if opening up the heavens and stirring the primordial chaos.
"Boom!"
The Swallowing Sky Sparrow bore the brunt of the attack, letting out a long screech, its feathers flying as blood splattered, demonstrating the power of the divine seed— the essence of the old vine's life.
With a hum, Qiong Qi made its move, reaching out with a massive claw to tear apart the old vine and seize the treasure.
The battle erupted. Fortunately, it was in the sky; otherwise, the earth would have been destroyed, just like the mountains and rivers around Stone Village, shattering and soaking in blood.
Even so, the fight in the sky was terrifying. No one on the ground dared to fly, no one dared to join the aerial battle. All had descended to the ground.
The sharp sound of feathers slicing through the air was incessant. The Swallowing Sky Sparrow had summoned dozens of enormous feathers, slashing them forward like celestial swords, surrounded by symbols of order.
The guardian spirit’s entire body shone, and its leaves rustled like rippling green waves. It erased the symbols, igniting the divine feathers, which then exploded.
"Boom!"
On the verdant vine, the green-skinned gourd swayed, colliding with an enormous hand that had reached close. A blast of lightning tens of thousands of feet long erupted, forcing the being from Mount Yi to retreat. Blood dripped from its torn palm.
"A battle in the heavens!" The old vine shot up into the sky, disappearing into the heavens almost instantly.
Qiong Qi, the Swallowing Sky Sparrow, and others gave chase, leaping into the skies, their symbols sweeping upwards like a vast, starry sea.
Clearly, the battle in the ninth heaven had reached an extremely intense and terrifying level. The old vine began summoning meteors from beyond the heavens, as if it intended to destroy the world while attacking the supreme beings.
For a moment, the ninth heaven was in turmoil, with thunderclouds swirling, meteors glowing, symbols intertwining, and starry rivers spreading. It was both dazzling and filled with blood.
But even as strong as it was, the old vine couldn't hold out. Its body was withering, its green leaves turning yellow, and its life was reaching its end.
"Kill!"
On the ground, the people of Butian Pavilion began to break through, splitting into dozens of groups and heading in all directions.
It was a bloodbath, incredibly brutal. Symbols intertwined as severed limbs and broken bodies flew through the air, and life seemed especially fragile at that moment.
"Elder!" The disciples of Butian Pavilion cried out in sorrow.
Ahead, several elders leading the charge to break through sacrificed themselves to block the enemies, engulfed by symbols and falling one after another. The path was blocked by terrifyingly powerful beings.
"Go that way!"
A powerful elder from Butian Pavilion flew in, shielding the disciples from harm. His body burned as he blocked the incoming symbols, urging the disciples to quickly retreat and change course to escape.
"Poof!"
He spat out a mouthful of blood as half of his body was shattered by the symbols, the overwhelming power causing severe injuries.
"The Beast Mountain of Xiling, you’ve come as well!" The old man guarding the Butian Pavilion library, Elder Liu, his eyes glowing with divine light, like an awakened lion, rushed to help. He slapped a white tiger away, engaging in a fierce battle.
The white tiger, master of slaughter, exuded a terrifying killing aura, its metal element surging to the heavens. Its roars shook the mountains and valleys, causing the earth to tremble.
However, Elder Liu was also immensely powerful. His body glowed, and upon their first clash, he tore off a piece of tiger skin, dripping with blood, completely different from his usual sleepy demeanor. At that moment, he fought like a war god.
This scene was happening all around; the battle was unimaginably fierce.
Additionally, there was another group of outsiders who did not engage in direct combat but were even more formidable. They guarded their young clan members, forcing their way into Butian Pavilion, heading towards the deepest parts where the guardian spirit resided.
"The moment is coming," they said, gazing expectantly at the sky.
