Chapter 102: How Pitiful

Chapter 102: How Pitiful

Xiao Tian was filled with rage. Despite his efforts to turn around, he couldn’t see who had ambushed him. Struck on the head by a large bone club, his eyes rolled back, filled with resentment, and he lost consciousness.

Little Dot tossed aside the bone club and dusted off his hands. “Daring to ambush me so carelessly—let’s call it even.”

Anyone witnessing this would be astonished. The renowned prodigy Xiao Tian, who had risen above over ninety thousand others, was taken down like this.

The bone club was translucent and pristine, a relic from a fierce beast. Unfortunately, time had eroded its runes, but it remained impressively sturdy. Little Dot had found it and used it as a hammer.

In just two strikes, he had knocked down the top prodigy, leaving him sprawled on the ground.

Of course, this also had to do with his careful preparation. He had been watching the silver-robed youth for some time and chose this location to set up an ambush, taking advantage of the opportunity.

Originally, he had intended to challenge Xiao Tian in a direct fight. However, recalling that Xiao Tian had previously ambushed him during the chase by the ancient crocodile, he felt it was only fair to retaliate. Thus, he had prepared the bone club for such a moment.

It was a pity for Xiao Tian that even in his unconscious state, he was filled with resentment. Being taken down like this was a significant grievance.

Little Dot crouched down, deftly flipping Xiao Tian over with practiced ease. He began searching through the youth’s belongings with remarkable efficiency.

In an instant, everything Xiao Tian had was transferred to Little Dot’s possession. Apart from the twenty-five pieces of Heaven Repairing Stones, there were also two bottles of precious elixirs that could replenish essence and heal severe injuries—these were worth a fortune.

The haul was substantial, but Little Dot was still unsatisfied. He muttered, “Why isn’t there any treasure? How poor.”

He didn’t realize that Xiao Tian’s talent and ambition were meant for taking the top spot. Although his clan had provided him with treasures, he hadn’t brought any along, only seeking to prove himself as the strongest among ninety thousand people.

Little Dot tossed the silver-robed youth onto an ancient tree to prevent him from being carried off by beasts, then picked up his bone club and left with a flourish.

After some time, Xiao Tian awoke, feeling a searing pain in his head. He suddenly remembered something and sat up abruptly, almost falling from the tree.

“Ah, it hurts so much!” He rubbed the back of his head, feeling as though it might crack open from the intense pain.

Then, he noticed that his forehead also ached. When he touched it, he found a large bump resembling an antler, making him nearly fall from the height in frustration.

“Damn it,” the silver-robed youth fumed. He was truly a prodigy, having visited countless major tribes with the clan elders and never losing a battle until now.

To his surprise, he had suffered such a significant setback today and hadn’t even seen the face of his attacker.

“It must be him,” Xiao Tian thought of the child he had previously struck. At that time, he had wanted to seize Heaven Repairing Stones from him but had been surprised by the child’s extraordinary performance.

Regrettably, he hadn’t seen the child’s face clearly. The child had retaliated without turning around and had leaped over a small hill.

“I’m so mad,” the silver-robed youth grumbled, furious at his crushing defeat and the fact that he didn’t even know what his opponent looked like.

After calming down for a moment, he jumped down from the ancient tree and went to a riverbank. Seeing his reflection, he was horrified. The bump on his forehead was enormous, like a protruding horn.

“Ouch!”

The throbbing veins on his forehead made the bump worse, which only added to his anger and pain.

“Don’t let me run into you again,” the silver-robed youth roared before clutching his head, moaning in agony, and grinding his teeth.

Little Dot, on the other hand, was quite pleased. Solving the Heaven Repairing Stones issue with just two strikes was far more efficient than hunting for them. This way, he could avoid conflicts and coexist peacefully with other prodigies, which was satisfying.

“Ugh, but there’s trouble. I dug up the primordial bones in Area Eight. Those old fogeys better not find out, or all my efforts will be for nothing.” He was somewhat worried.

“If only Maoqiu were here; it could have carried the primordial bones away first.” He mused. Maoqiu had been stopped from entering Area Eight because no combat pets were allowed to prevent cheating.

Having completed his task without greed, Little Dot didn’t compete for more Heaven Repairing Stones and wandered around the forest.

“Hey, something interesting happened outside. You guys don’t know, do you?” a boy said with a grin.

A few boys ahead, clearly allied and not fighting each other, had gathered enough Heaven Repairing Stones and were together for mutual defense.

“What happened? How do you know?” someone asked.

“A guy just came in and hadn’t seen the monument. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do here and stupidly asked me. I asked him about the outside, and he told me a funny story that nearly made me laugh to death.”

“Quick, tell us.”

“Area Eight erupted. A total of 8,900 people grouped together to clear the final challenge, and they all succeeded. The elders at the Heaven Repairing Pavilion looked like they’d seen a ghost and nearly fainted.”

“Impossible!”

“It’s true. Apparently, the runic bones in Area Eight were completely looted, causing the array domain to fail, so those people managed to pass the challenge in groups.”

In the forest, the mouths of several boys dropped open in shock. This was beyond belief.

“This style seems so familiar. It feels like I’ve seen it before.”

“I think so too.”

“Like that kid from the Void God Realm,” someone exclaimed.

They immediately began discussing excitedly.

“Wait a minute. How could the person who just entered know about what happened in Area Eight? He’s not from that area,” someone eventually asked.

“Even though he’s from Area Two, he heard about it because of the shocking events. The Heaven Repairing Pavilion’s people quickly checked all the areas, so everyone knew.”

“Oh, I see.”

In the distance, Little Dot, having heard this, looked troubled. His small hands were clenched together, sighing deeply.

He had anticipated this and was worried, brainstorming solutions. Hearing these words now, he realized the situation was worse than he had imagined; it seemed that everyone at the Heaven Repairing Pavilion knew about it.

In Area Eight, the elders Xiong Fei, Zhuo Yun, and other clan elders discussed and, with gritted teeth and nearly in tears, agreed to allow three thousand people to pass.

Although it seemed like many to cut down from over eight thousand, in reality, it was acceptable since three thousand people remained, far surpassing previous records.

“The eighth area must be reselected. Except for the prodigies entering the second battlefield, this round of clearing does not count.”

Selecting these three thousand people might require another round.

Little Dot was deeply conflicted. He had encountered a few latecomers in the forest and indirectly gathered information about the outside, making him quite anxious.

“Ugh, it’s a real hassle to resolve. But after all the time and effort I spent collecting those twenty or so Heaven Repairing Stones, they might not be useful now. It’s so frustrating.”

If the silver-robed youth heard his words, he would surely vomit blood and be enraged. The effort and time he invested, risking his life, had nothing to do with Little Dot.

Although the eight areas are not interconnected, the prodigies would eventually meet up in the second battlefield.

Little Dot, carrying a bag full of Heaven Repairing Stones, chose the third area. He decided to retreat and escape.

With a resounding "bang," he effortlessly broke through the rune-glowing barrier with his immense strength and appeared in the third area.

Afterwards, he looked around sneakily and ran straight towards the exit. He was no longer aiming to be a top prodigy, just a regular passerby.

He passed through smoothly and emerged successfully.

However, upon exiting, he was a bit stunned. There were so few people here. If he joined in, the elders might notice him, and he would probably be exposed.

Sighing in frustration, Little Dot furrowed his brow.

"Why is the eighth area so lively?" he noticed a large crowd, like a sea of people, and secretly asked someone from the third area who had also succeeded in passing.

"The eighth area is a mess. That peculiar kid from the Void God Realm caused chaos, and now the elders are gathering people to re-test them. They’re lucky, though; this time they were given three thousand spots," the boy answered absentmindedly. By the time he wanted to say more, he found that the person who asked him had disappeared, leaving him feeling like he’d seen a ghost.

Naturally, Little Dot quickly ran away, re-entered the third area, broke through the barrier of the second battlefield, and re-entered the prodigy’s trial ground.

"This makes things easier," he thought, pleased.

He planned to leave the second battlefield and head to the eighth area, where he would wait for the "main force" and then come out together, clearing his name. With over three thousand people, who would notice him?

"Sigh, there are too few prodigies in the battlefield, only a little over a hundred. I stand out too much here," Little Dot lamented.

"It’s so frustrating. I went through all this effort to collect more than twenty Heaven Repairing Stones, hoping to shine as the top prodigy. The heavens are unfair. I’m so pitiful," he said with a look of deep grievance.

“I think I heard someone mention twenty Heaven Repairing Stones and complain about unfairness. Damn, who’s being unfair?” The silver-robed youth had just appeared in this area and kicked a towering ancient tree in frustration.

“Hmm?” Little Dot sensed something and quickly dashed over, hiding among the branches and leaves, and saw the silver-robed youth again.

“It’s him again,” Little Dot stroked his chin, pondering whether to return the Heaven Repairing Stones since they would be useless in his hands.

At this moment, he was filled with tangled emotions and deep resentment, sighing continuously and feeling utterly pitiful.

Little did he know, the truly pitiable person now had not a single Heaven Repairing Stone and might be eliminated as a failure. The frustration in his heart was beyond imagination.

“Forget it. Since I’m so kind, I’ll return it to you. But you’ll have to pay interest,” Little Dot decided.

Xiao Tian was frustrated and in agony. The once top prodigy might now be eliminated, which was extremely embarrassing. Finding someone to seize stones from was difficult; those people had hidden away or formed powerful alliances to resist him.

“Such worry,” Little Dot muttered to himself.

The one truly troubled was so distraught that they couldn’t even express their frustration, aimlessly wandering through the forest.

The silver-robed youth was distracted, wandering aimlessly, when suddenly his hair stood on end, and a bad feeling returned. He quickly tried to react but was still too late.

“Bang!”

He felt a piercing pain in his back and his vision darkened, experiencing the same sensation as last time—another heavy blow to the head.

“Damn it, not again,” he couldn’t help but curse, glaring intensely to avoid being knocked out by the flashing stars in his vision. He desperately tried to turn his head to see clearly.

However, before he could turn his head, the bone club was already in front of him, and another blow landed on his earlier bump.

“Ugh.” The silver-robed youth’s eyes rolled back, filled with rage, and he lost consciousness.

“Sigh, I’m so pitiful,” Little Dot said with a melancholic look, standing over the unconscious silver-robed youth with a self-pitying demeanor.

If the silver-robed youth were aware, he might transform into an ancient madman, roaring continuously for three days and nights.

“Remember, return it with interest next time,” Little Dot waved his small fist and then threw a bag of Heaven Repairing Stones beside the silver-robed youth.

At the same time, he took a hairpin from among his hair, which seemed quite valuable. He had missed it during the last treasure hunt and took it this time.

“I’m so pitiful,” Little Dot said forlornly as he turned and headed towards the eighth area.
