Chapter 81: A Small Test of Skill

Chapter 81: A Small Test of Skill

It was a wondrous feeling. The small figure was agile, but with the slightest movement, it would generate explosive force, as if the whole body were about to fly away.

Three volcanic-like "caverns" exuded a rolling vitality, with "lava" flowing downward and entering the small figure's body, making him vibrant and always in peak condition.

A beastly roar echoed through the mountains as a colossal creature appeared, over thirty meters long, with silver fur that shimmered like satin. It had a pair of qilin horns on its head, eyes as large as washbasins and blood-red, coldly staring.

The creature resembled a white tiger but sported a pair of qilin horns and had dozens of towering bone spurs on its back, pure white and as long as a zhang (approximately 3.3 meters), like war spears.

This was a true ferocious beast, knowledgeable in the mysteries of runes, reigning over these mountains, and had no doubt killed countless fierce birds and beasts to solidify its dominance. It was disturbed by the loud noise, felt its dignity was affronted, and came to kill.

In the past, the small figure would have chosen to flee at once, but now he was unafraid, standing calmly on a piece of blue stone, his large eyes clear as he quietly observed it.

The beast initially radiated murderous intent, but after a brief standoff, it suddenly roared and turned to flee, smashing a boulder weighing tens of thousands of pounds into powder with a single swipe of its claw. Then, it leaped into the air, its body flowing with a rosy light, like a silver dragon, crossing the mountain terrain. Angered, it spewed a burst of white light from its mouth, flattening the entire forest, and its silver body vanished deep into the mountains.

Several small black dots appeared in the distance, quickly approaching. Fierce birds appeared, their bodies glowing with runes, emitting dazzling light. A powerful aura descended, startling all beasts into trembling fear.

They were brimming with murderous intent, ready to dive down at any moment.

The small figure looked up, and two astonishing beams of light shot from his eyes, creating two runes at his gaze, exuding an intimidating presence.

The fierce birds let out long cries, flapped their wings in an instant, and soared into the clouds. They were both startled and angry, and also fearful. They lingered only for a moment before swiftly flying to the horizon, disappearing from sight.

Nearby, no powerful beings at the top of the food chain dared to challenge the small figure, all retreating.

Without lifting a finger, Shi Hao had scared away the formidable tyrants of the mountains.

He sat down, quietly savoring the feeling of the cavern realm, immersing himself in it. The "lava" surged and engulfed him, creating a scene of mist and light that appeared incredibly mysterious.

After a full day and night, the small figure finally stopped, stood up, and greeted the morning sun, basking in its light. He felt that he had solidified his mastery. The three volcanic craters receded and gradually disappeared, and he walked towards the Stone Village with big strides.

"Wow, the small figure is back and has actually hunted a Jiaobiao (a fierce beast resembling a leopard but with a dragon's head)!"

The children exclaimed in surprise as the small figure brought back a giant beast, over ten meters long, with a leopard's body but a fearsome Jiaobiao head. Even in death, it exuded a fierce aura.

"You’ve broken through, child?" The village chief asked in amazement.

Otherwise, this Jiaobiao would not have been so easily hunted. It was extremely powerful, and the small figure's ease in returning proved something significant.

"Yes," the small Shi Hao nodded, his eyes clear and very pure. In the morning light, his small body looked very bright, making one marvel at how such a little child had already become a master of the cavern realm.

Many people spend their whole lives without reaching this level, but he had achieved it in just a few short years, which was truly remarkable.

"Do you have confidence in defeating those marauders?" A group of children ran from the lakeside, surrounding him, all clenching their small fists with hopeful eyes.

The clan elders had been beaten, and the whip marks on their parents' faces still remained. This kind of humiliation was deeply distressing, and the survival of the clan was at stake, with the possibility of being ruthlessly slaughtered by the marauders.

"I will do my best. Don’t be afraid of them," Shi Hao said, his eyes flashing with determination.

Two days later, a rumble came from the horizon as a group of iron-clad cavalry charged forward, their scaled armor fierce, composed of brutal beasts. Though there were only a few dozen of them, they surged like a torrent, bringing a violent aura.

The marauders had arrived ahead of time, their killing intent fierce. The massive beasts with sharp fangs, bloodthirsty mouths, and black, thick horns looked extremely menacing.

A small contingent of marauders had arrived, with the main force and the sacrificial spirit not yet present. Even so, the murderous atmosphere was intense, causing the temperature around the Stone Village to plummet suddenly.

"Wildlings, are you ready?" A man in black armor on a beast shouted, pointing his iron whip at the villagers.

The villagers did not respond, all staring at him.

"Are you mute? Haven’t you heard? There are only two days left. If you don’t have the black gold now, I don’t think there’s any need to wait until then," the leader said harshly, his eyes cold.

"Yes, many have fled," another leader remarked, his face darkening, his eyes growing colder. "Daring to flee without our permission. Don’t they know they are courting death, thinking they can survive this way?"

A few marauders showed cruel smiles, their teeth gleaming white and looking very vicious. Beneath them were several giant mastiffs, standing two to three meters tall, five to six meters long, with fangs like daggers and snowy white, terrifying.

These mastiffs, growing in the wilderness, were fierce and sharp-nosed, with an excellent sense of smell. They believed that even if the villagers left the village, true escape would be difficult.

"If captured, I will make you understand what it means to wish you were dead," a leader said coldly, sending a chilling sensation through the air.

"Hey, what’s that?" Suddenly, a marauder spotted a unicorn flashing and disappearing in the village, his eyes flashing with fierce light and surprise.

"It’s a variant unicorn among the scale horses, robust, shining silver-white, capable of traveling ten thousand miles a day, a mount of incredible speed."

"Not just one, but so many!"

Previously, the unicorns had been hiding in the nearby mountains and forests, and they hadn’t seen them. This time, they were seen clearly, and the marauders squinted their eyes with immense excitement and thrill.

These spirit beasts were not very powerful, but their speed was exceptional and extremely rare.

If they could ride the unicorns, they would truly come and go like the wind, moving with great speed, dominating the vast wilderness.

"Well, being ridden by a group of children, is this a preparation to escape at any moment?" A leader coldly scrutinized them and then looked at a group of adults at the village head. "Bring them here and present the unicorns."

However, no one responded; the group of strong men at the village head looked at him with indifference.

"Wildlings, are you all mute? Haven’t you heard? Have those children bring the unicorns here to present to us, or we will immediately slaughter this village," another leader threatened, clad in black armor, his gaze as sharp as a knife.

He urged the beasts forward, swinging the horsewhip at Shi Linhu, Shi Feijiao, and others, striking their faces. Last time, he had left long wounds on several men’s faces, bleeding profusely. This time, he was still as vicious and brutal, coming up and striking with startling rage.

"Bang!"

The small figure stepped forward, grabbed the horsewhip, and stood in front of the crowd.

"Eh?" The leader was astonished. He knew best how powerful his whip was, and yet a child had managed to catch it with one hand.

With a "buzz," he gave a slight shake of his wrist, and the runes spread out from the whip's tip. However, when they encountered the small figure's palm, they immediately extinguished.

"You little brat, there's something odd about you," he was taken aback and immediately kicked downward with the intention of crushing the child's face, with a vicious intent.

The small figure's eyes flashed with light, faster than him. With a thud, he grabbed the leader's ankle, exerted a little force, pulled him off his mount, and then violently swung him down onto the ground.

"Awooo!" The leader howled in pain.

Dust billowed as his head and face smashed into the ground. His mouth and nose spurted blood, especially his mouth, which was a mess of blood and flesh, with more than a dozen teeth knocked out.

This sudden turn of events was shocking. The marauders had not expected that this seemingly weak village would have someone daring to resist, and it was just a child. They were momentarily stunned.

The leader, enraged and glowing, with runes intertwining, tried to break free. However, under the small figure's divine power, his resistance was futile. His ankle was gripped as if it were locked in an iron ring, almost ready to break.

The small figure, as if handling a scarecrow, swung him around and smashed him down onto the ground again, in a simple and violent manner.

"Poof."

The sound of flesh and bones breaking echoed. The leader cried out in agony as he crashed into a boulder, his bones fractured in many places and his body torn and battered.

The small figure tossed him aside like a dead dog at the village head. Shi Linhu stepped forward and placed a large foot on the leader's chest, roaring, "Weren't you arrogant before?"

"Daring to whip me in the face, I've had enough of you," a group of men gathered around, stomping down with their big feet.

"Ah!"

"Poof!"

The leader's face was immediately deformed, trampled into a pulp.

Everything happened in an instant. The marauders were stunned. This was too sudden. Last time, the villagers had been as weak as lambs and dared not resist. Today, even a child was so fierce—what would the adults do?

"Kill them!" another leader shouted urgently, ordering the marauders to start slaughtering the villagers at the village head.

The sounds of clanging metal were incessant as a group of people drew their weapons and rushed forward to bloodily attack Stone Village.

The small figure shouted, striking at the first few people with a large hand, the runes spreading out. His hand seemed to expand to the size of a grinding wheel. With successive thuds, the marauders were knocked into the air and flew out in all directions.

This was an astonishing divine power. All those struck had their bones shattered, unable to get up or move.

And this was just a casual strike from the small figure, causing such devastating damage without much effort.

The remaining leader, with a snort, lit up his palm with a blazing light, casting a radiant fire spell that illuminated the village head in brilliance. He used runes to cast the fire spell, which he had employed in the past to burn villages and cause many to perish in flames.

However, it was useless against the small figure today. Shi Hao calmly pushed out a palm, with runes spanning the sky, directly extinguishing the intense firelight. Then, with a thud, it was as if a towering mountain had collided, sending the leader flying several dozen meters away.

The sound of "crack crack crack" followed as the leader’s bones were shattered, and he could no longer rise.

"Where is your arrogance now, your domineering attitude?"

Shi Feijiao and others moved forward, wielding heavy weapons and striking down, each hit causing a spray of blood.

The marauders lying on the ground, each having taken many lives, were usually cruel and brutal. Now, they were frightened, their eyes wide open, and they cried out for mercy.

The small figure, with thunderous strikes, handled this small group of marauders effortlessly. He knew that the real enemy was the sacrificial spirit; this small squad was nothing to worry about.
