Chapter 39: Strength and Weakness

Chapter 39: Strength and Weakness

Little Stone did not use his full force and spared Jiaopeng's life. Otherwise, the people from Luofu Marsh would undoubtedly seek revenge and might even raze Shicun, causing a great calamity.

This is the reality: to survive in the Great Wilderness, one must not only fend off various prehistoric beasts but sometimes also be prepared to bow down to avoid catastrophic consequences.

For the first time, Little Stone desired power so desperately.

“Attack together!”

Lei Mingyuan shouted, launching an attack, and Zishan Kun also charged forward again.

Little Stone tossed Jiaopeng aside like a discarded pot and summoned his treasure technique to confront the other two. In an instant, brilliant light surged, electric sparks crackled, purple qi steamed, and ancient birds screeched in an intense battle.

Lei Mingyuan spread his fingers wide, and amidst the blinding electric light, a fierce bird emerged, carrying black lightning, attacking Little Stone.

Unfortunately, it was ineffective. Stone summoned his treasure technique, and the ancient fierce bird opened its terrifying giant mouth, swallowing the lightning bird in one gulp, completely disintegrating it.

The onlookers were astonished—such a powerful treasure technique!

“Whoosh”

Suddenly, a cold light like lightning streaked towards the back of Little Stone’s head.

Jiaopeng, ruthless and decisive, had risen from the ground. Unwilling to accept Stone’s mercy, he summoned his treasure technique again, transforming the fierce dragon into a “fierce arrow,” drawing it on a bowstring and shooting it, with an astonishing light beam and a chilling edge.

This caused many in Shicun to scream, their faces turning pale.

“Oh no!” The two young girls from the Cloud Sky Palace also cried out in alarm.

Little Stone sensed the danger, quickly turning around with clear, pure eyes. His arm trembled, and the runes flared up. The second moon appeared, one in each hand, and with a powerful clasp, the two moons merged into a pristine millstone.

As the fierce dragon arrow shot forth, he gently rotated the silver, gleaming millstone. The "crack, crack" sounds echoed as it crushed the heavily hostile rune arrow into pieces, leaving no trace.

Everyone showed expressions of shock. An elder from the Cloud Sky Palace sighed and said, “Truly remarkable. To start contemplating treasure techniques at such a young age—this is a talent beyond the ordinary.”

This was not the first time he had praised Little Stone, and the experts could not refute him.

In fact, whether it was the Lei Clan, the Zishan lineage, or the Luofu Marsh, their clan treasures were renowned. It was just that the three children had not mastered them well, leading to their defeat.

Jiaopeng’s face went pale. From the beginning until now, he had been suppressed by this mountain village child in several fierce battles and had never gained the upper hand. This had severely undermined his confidence.

“Consider the consequences if you continue to be unreasonable,” Stone said only that.

Jiaopeng’s face turned white upon hearing this, but his eyes grew fierce and his expression malevolent as he charged forward again.

The three geniuses battled Little Stone together, and the area was filled with the roar of thunder, the cry of the fire麟, and the roar of the fierce dragon, deafening.

The ancient fierce bird screeched loudly, its wings beating, covering the entire sky, casting a massive shadow, and spreading a terrifying aura that made people’s hearts race with anxiety and oppression.

It overpowered the fire麟, the lightning bird, and the fierce dragon with ruthless force, its fierceness unstoppable.

The ancient fierce bird’s murderous intent was overwhelming. The dragon, as thick as a water jar, was torn into three pieces, while the lightning bird was swallowed in one bite, and the fire麟 was shattered by its wings.

“Boom”

Jiaopeng, Zishan Kun, and Lei Mingyuan were all thrown out, coughing up blood and rolling on the ground, covered in dust.

The onlookers were astonished. These were three geniuses, among the most talented within a fifty-thousand-mile radius. They had teamed up, yet were knocked down by a child from a mountain village.

This was truly shocking and unbelievable.

At this moment, Jiaopeng, Zishan Kun, and Lei Mingyuan were filled with a mix of shame and anger. They usually carried the halo of geniuses and received praise wherever they went. Now, they were humiliated, rolling on the ground like discarded vegetables. The enormous gap in their expectations made them want to howl at the sky in frustration.

Little Stone charged forward and kicked Jiaopeng, who was trying to get up, sending him flying into a nearby giant rock. Jiaopeng screamed in agony, never having been so miserable before.

Zishan Kun and Lei Mingyuan tried to escape but failed. Little Stone pursued them, kicking them with such force that blood spurted from their mouths and noses, their bodies writhing in pain.

Finally, Little Stone surged past them, lifted them all up, and lined them up side by side. He then picked up a stone mill and struck down.

“Ah!”

Zishan Kun and Lei Mingyuan cried out in pain. Despite their strong physiques, they could not withstand Little Stone’s more powerful assaults and collapsed on the spot, their hearts aching with the intense pain.

“You dare? If you attack me again, I will raze your Shicun to the ground!” Jiaopeng shouted angrily, seeing Little Stone wielding a several-hundred-pound stone mill, and charged at him.

“Bang!”

Little Stone did not even blink, directly pressing the stone mill against Jiaopeng’s face.

“Aw!” Jiaopeng’s voice was almost unrecognizable, his face twisted, his nose broken, and all his teeth knocked out by the stone mill.

Not only Jiaopeng but everyone else watching felt the pain. Jiaocang from Luofu Marsh twitched his face and stepped forward, his killing intent soaring to the sky.

“Jiaocang, what are you doing? We only said the children were having a tantrum. A few rounds of competition would suffice. There is no need for adults to interfere,” said the elder from the Cloud Sky Palace.

“Yes, it’s just a few kids competing. There’s no need to get so worked up,” said the leader of the Golden Wolf Tribe, trying to mediate.

This was surprising. Many people in the crowd wanted the Sphinx’s treasure bones and were seeking excuses to harm Shicun. The Golden Wolf Tribe had been very active, so why had their attitude suddenly changed?

“Child, your talent is indeed rare and impressive. However, living in this Great Wilderness might cause it to be overlooked. My Golden Wolf Tribe wishes to take you in as a disciple. Would you be willing to join us? We will teach you the most powerful bone scripts and a supreme treasure technique to comprehend,” the leader of the Golden Wolf Tribe said.

Many were stunned, then cursed silently, seeing through the scheme. Not only would they gain a prodigy, but they would also peacefully acquire the Sphinx’s treasure bones from Shicun.

“Little Stone, come to our Cloud Sky Palace. We will take you to see the Snow Sea and drink the most exquisite beast milk,” said the two young girls, winking at Little Stone.

“I love drinking beast milk,” Little Stone said, fluttering his big eyes.

The members of the Golden Wolf Tribe frowned. Was this little guy being deliberate, trying to use this opportunity to refuse them? Although he seemed very innocent, his choices were impressive.

“Child, it’s important to choose the right master. Our lineage controls thunder and lightning, and we can transform into thunder gods. Would you be willing to join us?” Even the old servant of the Lei Clan spoke up, still persuading despite their genius being beaten.

The crowd showed mixed reactions. Taking in a prodigy, acquiring the ancient fierce bird’s descendant, and gaining the Sphinx’s treasure bones was an incredibly advantageous deal. Thus, more forces spoke up.

“Little brother, you need to leave this Great Wilderness. The outside world is full of wonders, and our tribe has a supreme treasure technique that can propel you to the heavens.”

“Our tribe has the Lihuo Treasure Technique, which can turn mountains and rivers into a sea of fire in an instant, burning all enemies. Child, join our tribe, and you might inherit the ancient fire god’s legacy.”

Not everyone was sympathetic. Some secretly sneered and said, "You’re all being too pretentious. We are here for the Sphinx’s treasure bones. Even if we take this child, we’ll probably end up killing him to remove potential threats."

Little Stone had already stopped. The three children were helped up by their clansmen and taken away, their faces bruised and bloodied, filled with shame and anger.

Jiaocang from Luofu Marsh sneered and said, "Why be so hypocritical? People from Luofu Marsh just want the Sphinx’s treasure bones. This village is definitely unsalvageable."

"Yes, indeed. The Sphinx’s bones are not something a village can protect. All that awaits them is a calamity that will wipe them out. We can discuss how to handle this," agreed another powerful figure.

"That's right. Also, three young strange birds are not something a village can keep. They should be handed over as well."

Many powerful figures echoed this sentiment, completely ignoring the people of Shicun. They did not bother to ask for their consent; decisions were made by those present, not by the owners.

The people of Shicun were infuriated by the blatant disregard. The lack of any form of consultation or inquiry was pure contempt.

“Uncle, Sir, the Sphinx’s treasure bones are ours. We have paid with lives and blood for them. And Dapeng, Xiaoqing, and Ziyun are my companions,” Little Stone said with clear eyes and a crisp voice, causing a hush to fall over the scene.

The three young birds nestled beside him, their big eyes glowing with wisdom as they rubbed their heads against his arm, showing affection.

“If you don’t want your clan to be wiped out, hand them over. Neither the three young birds nor the Sphinx’s treasure bones are things you can keep,” said a powerful figure from a large clan.

“You'll see. Once Shicun is gone, everything here will be unclaimed,” Jiaopeng said with a grim expression as he wiped the blood from his face.

“You are bullying us too much!” The snot-nosed boy cried, realizing the situation. Shicun could not withstand these people.

A malevolent aura emanated from Jiaopeng as he looked at the twenty-meter-long flying dragon circling above and said, “Uncle Jiaolong, go and swallow those wild children, especially that little brat with milk stains at the corner of his mouth. Tear his bones apart, but leave him with one breath and bring him to me.”

“Roar!”

A deep roar came from the flying dragon as it lowered its massive head, staring at the few children at the village’s edge with cold, murderous eyes.

“You are bullying us too much!” Shi Dazhuang said, trembling with anger.

“Why shouldn’t we? If you dare resist, we will immediately raze your village to the ground,” Jiaopeng said, leaping onto the back of the flying dragon and looking down with a cold gaze fixed on Little Stone.

Jiaocang from Luofu Marsh did not intervene, his expression indifferent as he watched the events unfold.

“Hand over the Sphinx’s treasure bones and the three young birds, or this village may be wiped off the map,” Jiaocang said coldly.

This was a mountain village with simple folk, but they were not lacking in courage. Shi Linhu and the others roared, “We’d rather be shattered into pieces than live in shame. If you force us, we will fight to the last drop of blood.”

They knew that even if they handed over the Sphinx’s treasure bones, these powerful figures would likely still kill them to cover up their actions, as such deeds were dishonorable and no one wanted them to be known.

“Do you really want your village to be bloodied?” Jiaocang asked coldly.

“Uncle Jiaolong, act immediately and tear them apart,” Jiaopeng commanded, pointing at Little Stone.

“Liushen, I know you can hear me and believe you can protect the village. Please guard this place,” Little Stone whispered to the scorched willow wood with his pure, big eyes.

“Still trying to pretend to be a deity, Uncle Jiaolong. Bloodily purge this place and also break off the tender branches of Shicun’s sacrificial spirit,” Jiaopeng commanded recklessly.

Jiaocang from Luofu Marsh remained silent, coldly watching everything, allowing the situation to develop.

“Roar!”

The flying dragon moved, its massive body diving down and creating a fierce wind as it charged toward the people of Shicun.

“Grandpa, stop them quickly!” The two identical young girls urgently called for their grandfather to help Shicun.

“Don’t rush,” the elder from the Cloud Sky Palace said in a low voice, feeling a surge of anxiety and his hair standing on end.

“Whoosh!”

Suddenly, a brilliant light shot up, and a green willow branch, like a jade sculpture, appeared. It was crystal-clear, emitting radiant light as it pierced through the sky.

The flying dragon, with its gaping maw descending and preparing to bloodily purge Shicun, widened its eyes in shock and emitted a fearful roar.

“Roar!”

However, the sound abruptly stopped as a green willow branch, like a divine chain of order, with a blazing green radiance, pierced through its body with a “thud.”
