Chapter 43: The Four Great Powers

Chapter 43: The Four Great Powers

The small town of Xiao Gu Mountain suddenly fell silent as all the forces departed. Everyone followed the experts from the four great clans towards Shicun, eager to witness a grand battle.

The mountains were dense with forests, and the fallen leaves on the ground had accumulated over the years to a thickness of over a foot. Walking on them was soft, and this didn’t even account for the rotting leaves that had turned into black soil. The land was fertile, and ancient trees towered overhead.

The forest was home to many fierce beasts, but with so many people moving together, both giant beasts and ferocious birds were frightened and retreated. The sheer number of people created a torrent-like force.

“This is the village?”

From a distance of two or three miles, the four great clans halted, unwilling to advance further. They climbed up cliff walls and high ground, taking advantageous positions to overlook the village.

From their vantage point, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The village appeared simple and unremarkable, with stone houses made from mountain rocks. Animal hides were hung out to dry, smoked meat was visible, and the sounds of chickens and dogs could be heard. Elderly people rested against the walls soaking up the sun, while a group of children played and chased each other.

“A village like this doesn’t warrant such a massive mobilization. In my opinion, a cavalry charge could flatten it in one sweep,” said a member of the Golden Wolf Clan. This group of iron-clad riders sat atop their scaled horses, their armor gleaming, long spears sharp, and broad swords shining, pointing towards the front.

“Daring to offend the majesty of our Luofu Great Marsh, this village will be destroyed today,” shouted a group of young men from Luofu Great Marsh, their faces cold. They sought revenge for Jiaocang, who had lost an arm and become incapacitated.

However, the leaders of the four great clans had issued orders to refrain from taking any rash actions and to wait for further instructions. Anyone who dared to act on their own would be severely punished.

“It seems this village really is extraordinary if it has caused such caution among these formidable figures.”

“Where are the leaders of the four great clans? Why aren’t they here? What are they doing?”

The followers of the powerful clans discussed among themselves, closely observing everything.

In Shicun, it was peaceful. A little child was holding a small clay pot in the courtyard, preparing to cook some beast’s milk. He was sneaky, frequently glancing towards the courtyard gate, worried about being discovered by the older kids.

“It smells so good,” he said, his little nose twitching as he savored the aroma of the boiling milk. His large eyes squinted with pleasure.

“Flap, flap.”

Suddenly, the sound of birds flapping their wings filled the air. The child looked up in alarm and said, “Why are there so many birds and fierce beasts? Is there another beast tide?”

He stood up and walked out of the courtyard, looking towards the sky. He soon noticed that birds and other flying creatures were taking flight from the surrounding forests, with distances of two to three miles.

“This isn’t right. There are either fierce beasts or people surrounding us,” Little Stone Hao quickly shouted, alerting the villagers.

In fact, Stone Forest Tiger, Stone Flying Flood Dragon, and others had also sensed the danger immediately. The villagers, though simple, were not without vigilance. Living in the harsh wilderness required sharp senses.

“Could it be that group of bastards is back again?” shouted the father of Ermeng.

In the mountains, the strong figures of the four great clans showed their surprise. The village’s response was swift and impressive.

“Look, the clan leader has arrived,” cried out a member of the Golden Wolf Clan.

A tall and mighty old man appeared, his pupils a faint golden color with lightning flashing from them, startling everyone with his formidable presence. This old man was incredibly powerful.

Beside him was a golden divine wolf. It wasn’t very large but walked with its head held high, looking down on the strong figures of the clans with an aura of dominance.

The wolf’s entire body radiated golden light, exuding an imposing grandeur beyond even that of humans. Its golden eyes were cold and sweeping, making every expert retreat, almost gasping for breath. It was more terrifying than the old man.

Everyone understood that this must be the most powerful divine spirit within a fifty-thousand-mile radius.

“Golden Wolf Clan, you must not act recklessly. Retreat one more mile and wait for my command,” said the formidable old man. After delivering this command, he turned into a beam of golden light and vanished into the forest.

He soon arrived at a spot one mile away from Shicun, standing on a mountain peak with the divine spirit, gazing at the village.

At the same time, three other supreme beings appeared from different directions, ascending rocky cliffs to overlook Shicun.

The leaders of the Thunder Clan, Luofu Great Marsh, Purple Mountain Clan, and Golden Wolf Clan had all arrived, each occupying a strategic position. They were preparing to unleash devastating attacks.

From the west, a large river flowed through the forest, where the master of Luofu Great Marsh stood, engulfed in mist. He was glowing, with a massive ferocious dragon emerging from his back, coiling over the mountainous terrain. The sight was terrifying.

He was using a sacrificial technique, and his methods were somewhat eerie.

The dragon, emerging from his spine, rapidly grew larger, its girth reaching ten feet and length over two hundred feet, surrounded by gray mist and large symbols shimmering in the air.

The ferocious dragon roared, shaking the surroundings, causing rocks to fall and leaves to whirl.

“Roar!”

With a deafening roar, the gray dragon reared up and charged towards Shicun, launching a fierce attack. The massive dragon’s body covered the sky, the gray mist surging and heavy. It seemed to come from chaos itself, opening its mouth to emit a terrifying light that shattered the rocks below.

Outside Shicun, the rocks and trees faced a destructive assault, and the ground裂开了, this dragon’s immense size and powerful attack caused fear.

“What a powerful sacrificial technique,” said everyone two or three miles away, shivering in terror. Such a technique was astonishing, capable of annihilating an entire clan.

“No, the village is unharmed.”

At the village entrance, a green, glowing branch on the willow tree emitted a hazy light, enveloping the entire village and blocking the dragon’s devastating attack.

The willow branches quickly spread, reaching towards the sky to pierce the dragon.

“Boom!”

Suddenly, from the north, a blazing lightning storm appeared, black lightning bolts striking down from a cliff towards Shicun, intercepting the willow branches that were reaching for the sky.

The Thunder Lord had made his move, a powerful king who exerted his utmost strength, wielding the most powerful sacrificial technique, as if he had become the Thunder God.

“Does the withered tree meet spring again? I represent the Thunder God, to utterly destroy you and let you decay completely.”

A booming voice echoed like thunder, shaking the mountains and rivers. All the experts covered their ears, as the sound’s penetrating force caused leaves to fly wildly.

He wasn’t attacking the main trunk of the willow tree but intercepting the delicate young branches. Black lightning danced wildly, falling heavily, casting darkness over the world with a flood of black light.

From the south, a wolf howl echoed through the heavens and earth. The divine wolf howled at the moon, and the entire mountain peak was covered in golden light. The divine spirit underwent a terrifying transformation.

Its back split open, revealing a golden seam. Its fur parted, and the divine spirit roared, shaking the mountains.

It was shedding its skin. After the golden fur split, a more radiant divine wolf emerged, its fur as if forged from gold.

“Wow, that golden wolf is truly terrifying. No wonder it is revered among divine spirits within a fifty-thousand-mile radius. It has experienced rebirth, shedding an old layer of skin, and is now refined into a treasure.” Everyone marveled.

On ordinary days, this golden wolf had endured, keeping its old shed skin on, but now it revealed its true, fearsome form, demonstrating its full strength.

The golden aura was intense as the wolf skin rapidly inflated, coming to life as if it were another living divine wolf. The teeth were visible, gleaming with a chilling light.

Clearly, the divine spirit's shedding process was thorough, leaving behind a complete and intact molt, making this treasure extraordinarily rare and immensely powerful.

“Aw!”

The divine wolf howled, shaking the heavens and the earth. The wolf-molt treasure emitted boundless light, turning the world around it into a golden hue as it charged towards Shicun, targeting the willow tree.

The onlookers shivered in awe. This divine spirit was indeed the most powerful within a fifty-thousand-mile radius. Its sheer might was terrifying, instilling deep fear in everyone.

The golden wolf, formed from the wolf skin, directly lunged at the thick, blackened roots of the willow tree, aiming to destroy it from the base. The golden light surged and engulfed the village entrance.

“Boom!”

From the east, a purplish mist spread across the sky, transforming into heavy clouds that covered the entire mountain forest. The terrifying aura was overwhelming. The foremost figure, the Purple Mountain Lord, had also made his move.
