"Trying to kill the spirit? How dare you even think of it," Bei Liqing said darkly. The crippled genius Bei Feng and the stolen treasure from the tribe were a massive blow to Bei Village.
"If it dares to come, we dare to kill it," Shi Yunfeng said with a grim expression, his anger genuine.
The sky had long since darkened, and the forest was cold and eerie, filled with the stench of blood.
"UuUu," the beasts in the wilderness howled, their chilling presence causing goosebumps. It felt as though malevolent spirits were wailing, creating an unnerving atmosphere.
"Bang!"
Seeing that the people from Bei Village were about to charge, Little Dot kicked Bei Feng, sending him flying in front of the Stone Village group.
"Even though he's crippled, he’s still a threat. It's easier to just chop him up with one sword," said Er Mang's father, fiercely. Without further ado, he swung his large sword, severing Bei Feng’s head with a splatter of blood.
"Ah, Feng'er!" Bei Liqing screamed, clutching his chest and coughing up blood. It was his own grandson being executed right before his eyes.
"He was already spared once before. The current outcome is entirely his own doing," Shi Linhu said coldly.
Shi Feiqiao grabbed the bloody head and threw it aside. "Take it back and bury it."
"Spirit, hurry and descend," Bei Liqing cried, his hair disheveled and his face turning from blood red to a ghastly pale. His expression was now terrifying and devoid of the previous composure.
The Stone Village people gathered together, on guard against the spirit, fearing its sudden appearance and massacre. Meanwhile, the Bei Village people retreated, suffering significant losses and now cautiously awaiting the spirit’s arrival.
The trees were dense, the forest dark, and the beastly roars were incessant, with the ominous atmosphere growing heavier. Yet, no powerful creature appeared.
The Stone Village people surrounded the Qing Lin Eagle, protecting it in the center. Tribe leader Shi Yunfeng used every method available, administering all the various medicinal powders he had, and even took some crimson-hued blood from the ancient beast’s horn to feed the fierce bird.
"Whiz!"
A cold arrow flew in, accurate and ruthless, aimed directly at the Qing Lin Eagle’s eyes. The chilling light indicated it was fired by someone with at least five or six thousand pounds of strength. The threat was dire. The Bei Village people feared that if the Qing Lin Eagle were treated back to full health, it would spell disaster for them, so they attempted to interfere and kill.
"Clang!"
Shi Linhu swung his broad sword, deflecting the arrow and sending it flying. The iron arrow embedded itself into a rock, sparking a shower of sparks.
"Yiya!"
Little Dot frowned and charged forward. The Bei Village’s ambush had led to the Qing Lin Eagle’s near death, and he was enraged. The Silver Moon swept through, transforming into a dazzling stream of light that surged forward.
It was like a river of stars across the heavens or white waves in an endless sea, resonating with a deep, booming sound that shook the entire mountainous region.
"Poof, poof!"
Screams came from the other side as four or five people staggered backward, blood splattering everywhere. Their wounds were severe, with several having lost arms and their faces pale, covered in cold sweat.
Little Dot moved swiftly, like a small fierce beast. He caressed the snow-white beast tooth bracelet on his wrist, its runes glowing. With a soft command, he released the power.
"Whoosh, whoosh!"
The beast tooth bracelet's light intensified, and each tooth was adorned with beautiful patterns, shining brightly. They detached from the bracelet, scattering and flying forward.
It was a brilliant rain of light, but with astonishing lethality. The snow-white beast teeth pierced through many bodies.
Blood flowers blossomed as bones were shattered and organs torn. The Bei Village people screamed in terror, unable to withstand the attack from the divine weapon.
"What's going on? Spirit, you should have arrived by now. Why don’t you appear? Come and save your people," Bei Liqing roared in fear, realizing that if this continued, all the Bei Village people would perish here.
"Retreat!"
The dazzling divine weapon in Little Dot’s hands was far superior to when it was in Bei Feng’s possession. His understanding of the bone script and its power made a significant difference.
The Bei Village people, overwhelmed and in despair, began to flee even without a formal order from their leader. They all fled in panic, and still, the spirit did not appear.
"Little Dot, don’t pursue," Shi Yunfeng, the tribe leader, warned, fearing for any unexpected accidents.
"Wow, this beast tooth bracelet is really powerful," Shi Hao said, scratching his head in amazement. The forty-two beast teeth flew back and reformed into a white bracelet, wrapping around his wrist.
"We should leave quickly. The spirit of Bei Village is inherently suspicious due to its nature. It might be afraid since I said I’d kill it, which is why it hasn’t shown itself," Shi Yunfeng whispered.
The old leader’s bluff seemed to have some effect, making the Stone Village people look at each other in bewilderment.
A hundred or so people began to move, lifting the Qing Lin Eagle, assisting the injured, and carrying the critically wounded quickly away. These were all men hardened by the wilds, hoping to save them as long as there was still breath. Shi Linhu led this group.
Another group, led by Shi Feiqiao, was responsible for transporting and protecting the Suan Ni, the red horns, and the demon ape’s arms. They were both excited and anxious, as these were true treasures.
In the mountainous terrain, dense bushes and towering trees impeded their progress.
"UuUu," the low growls continued, echoing around them.
As they neared Stone Village, green eyes like ghostly flames appeared in the dark forest.
"Oh my, such large wolves!"
The Stone Village people were horrified as they were surrounded by a pack of giant wolves with black backs and white bellies. Each wolf was as large as a house, with gaping maws and fangs half a foot long, white and eerie, with blood-red tongues, making them look incredibly menacing.
This wasn’t just one or two wolves, but forty to fifty of them—ferocious giants far more threatening than the Bei Village people.
"Damn it, the Bei Village spirit is indeed suspicious and cunning. It has summoned such a pack of mutated giant wolves."
Wolves this size were already comparable to giant elephants, and seeing even one during a hunt was rare. Now, there were forty to fifty all at once, creating a disaster.
In the dark forest, the green eyes were as large as bowls, cold and ominous. These wolves had no idea how many beasts they had already killed.
"Awwoo!"
A wolf’s howl thundered like a storm, chilling and grim. A massive figure pounced, and from the rear of the Stone Village group came a scream.
A villager had blood streaming from half his body, with one arm and shoulder ripped off by a giant wolf’s claw, suffering horrific injuries.
"Poof!"
At the critical moment, Shi Linhu threw a spear, piercing through the giant wolf’s hide and causing it to bleed. This halted the massacre and saved the villager from being torn apart.
These giant wolves were terrifying; even if a few could be dealt with, forty to fifty were beyond the ability of the hundred or so people to resist.
"Awwoo!"
The giant wolves howled, causing leaves to fall from the trees and creating a surge of malevolence.
Two more screams of agony echoed from different directions as several giant wolves attacked simultaneously. Their sharp claws could bring down a large tree with a single swipe. Despite the careful defense, two villagers were disemboweled, their intestines spilling out.
"Quick, get the bandages!" Shi Feiqiao shouted urgently.
The forest was dark and gloomy. Even though these giant wolves were fierce and powerful, and had an absolute advantage, they did not engage in direct attacks but instead launched ambushes.
This time, a dozen giant wolves attacked simultaneously from the darkness, pouncing on the villagers.
"Whoosh!"
Little Dot moved, raising his wrist. Runes interwove and took shape before him, and the forty-two radiant beast teeth emitted intense light, transforming into daggers and light arrows that flew forward.
"Poof, poof!"
The leading giant wolves had their eyes pierced and their skulls perforated. They howled in agony and writhed on the ground, bleeding profusely.
Even such enormous creatures could not withstand the divine weapon. If hit, they would either be severely injured or killed.
"You evil wolves, retreat immediately!" Little Dot commanded.
He summoned two moons of silver light and leaped forward, splitting two particularly strong giant wolves in half with two swift strikes. The cuts ran from their foreheads to their legs, splitting them completely, with blood gushing out.
The remaining giant wolves became cautious, afraid to attack recklessly.
"If necessary, use one of the ancestral weapons and keep one in reserve to attack the spirit at a crucial moment. Don’t let it become aware and prepare defenses," Shi Yunfeng whispered.
The forest was filled with pairs of green eyes. The giant wolves surrounded them, each exhaling white breath, their gaping mouths full of fearsome fangs. The malevolent aura was chilling.
"You’re all doomed. Today is the day your tribe will be annihilated," Bei Liqing reappeared, his face cold and eyes as venomous as a snake. He was now riding a completely silver giant wolf.
The people from Bei Village arrived, many of the young and strong climbing onto the wolves' backs, holding bows and arrows, their gazes icy and filled with hatred as they stared at the Stone Village group.
The Stone Village people gasped. The strength of the Bei Village people, combined with the giant wolves, was formidable beyond what a single village could possess.
"Our spirit is coming. None of you will survive," the leader of the Bei Village hunting team, Bei Shan, declared loudly.
"It’s just an old badger. It’s lived so long its teeth have fallen out. It probably can’t even move. What use could it be?" Shi Yunfeng sneered, deliberately belittling them.
The spirit of Bei Village was a badger, and the tribe's surname derived from it.
The giant wolves roared in fury, their howls increasing the malevolence in the area. They were ready to pounce at any moment.
"You will all die," Bei Liqing said ominously.
"Don’t fear breaking the rules of the wilderness and being attacked by other villages and tribes," Shi Yunfeng said coldly.
"Kill you all, capture your women and children, and claim that our two villages have merged. If our spirit breaks through, who would dare say anything against us?" Bei Shan, the hunting team leader, sneered.
The forty to fifty giant wolves launched probing attacks, frequently pouncing. The Stone Village people defended while Little Dot took the offensive, killing eight giant wolves with several strikes. The massive wolf carcasses lay scattered, filling the forest with the stench of blood.
For a full hour, the spirit of Bei Village did not appear. Only the giant wolves continued their attacks, while Bei Shan and others kept firing cold arrows.
Some more Stone Village people were injured, their bodies slashed open by the enormous wolf claws.
"Indeed, the badger is very suspicious. There’s no time for anything else. Use the ancestral weapon and break through," Shi Yunfeng ordered.
Delaying would not benefit them. The cunning badger might be plotting something, so it was better to return to Stone Village quickly, where the old willow tree could offer protection.
"Chief, if the ancestral weapon is exposed, won’t it lead to big trouble?" Shi Feiqiao asked.
"First, we need to preserve our lives. Afterwards, we’ll find a way to eliminate everyone who knows about Bei Village. Since they have shown no mercy and pushed us to this point, they cannot blame us for being ruthless," Shi Yunfeng said coldly, revealing a frightening expression for the first time.
They lifted the Qing Lin Eagle, carefully protecting it in the center. It would be a major asset for their future revenge, possibly able to resist the opponent’s spirit.
The group quickly broke through. Shi Linhu took out an arm bone, ready to summon it. This was the village's ancestral weapon, possessing unparalleled power.
Suddenly, before he could act, the distant forest roared like a flood. The beast roars were deafening, rushing towards them.
"A beast tide! Damn it, that old badger has summoned a horde of giant beasts to attack us. How ruthless and cunning," Shi Yunfeng’s face turned pale.
Shi Linhu also shouted, "That damned old badger is truly vicious, trying to crush us with a beast tide. Everyone, be on high alert!"
Not only did the Stone Village people look alarmed, but the Bei Village people were also terrified. The spirit’s cruel intentions would cause them tremendous impact, and not everyone was on a wolf’s back—half of them were still on the ground.
"Quick, get on the wolves’ backs!" Bei Liqing shouted.
But it was too late. The rumbling sound was close, and even the giant wolves were panicking, fleeing rapidly.
"Awwoo!"
A howl came, like a mountain spirit crying, incredibly eerie. Above the beast tide, a peculiar creature flew in with outstretched wings.
It was just over two meters long, with shiny yellow-brown fur but appeared ancient. Its wolf-like face was lined with deep wrinkles. This was a rare badger, one that was scarcely seen among countless wolves.
Its front legs were very short, almost incapable of walking on its own. It usually lay on the back of a giant wolf but had developed wings due to its powerful bloodline, allowing it to fly.
Clearly, this old badger was terrifying, with ancient runes faintly glowing on its body, making it an extraordinarily powerful and malevolent beast.
