Everyone was stunned.
Outside the village, the fierce bird, seemingly forged from molten iron, trembled as it looked up sharply. Its eyes shot out two beams of lightning-like light, staring intensely at the altar.
The egg, brushed by the tender green willow branch, glowed with a myriad of radiant colors, and mist enveloped it, making it seem as if it had suddenly been "divinized." It was crystalline and dazzling, truly astonishing.
On the eggshell, the spots were glowing like tiny suns, emitting intense, blazing light, and a surge of vitality. Furthermore, more intricate patterns appeared around the spots, complex and dazzling, like entwining dragons and snakes or a divine bird bathing in flames.
The egg underwent an inexplicable transformation. The patterns intertwined and rapidly spread, and soon the entire egg had mutated, adorned with many "patterns," bright and magnificent, with divine radiance spilling out.
"This egg's vitality has increased manyfold compared to before. The ancient magic bird's inherited life imprint seems to have revived significantly. This egg, if it hatches, will surely surpass the Azure-scaled Eagle," said the village chief, Shi Yunfeng, in astonishment.
This egg was special, likely inheriting numerous ancient magic bird imprints and undergoing a reversion phenomenon. If so, its bloodline would be immensely noble, far surpassing its parents.
The tender branch of the old willow tree had caused this remarkable sight with just a gentle brush. It was shocking—did it recognize the egg's uniqueness, or did it possess some mysterious power that caused the change?
The villagers were all astonished, their eyes burning with intense interest as they gazed at the dazzling egg. This was undoubtedly a rare and powerful warbird with endless potential.
Outside the village, the Azure-scaled Eagle, with shimmering scales, stood on a giant rock, its eyes fixed and beams of light shooting out. It seemed unable to believe what it saw.
It wanted to rush into the village to investigate closely but, upon seeing the old willow tree, was deterred by fear. It dared not approach and began calling anxiously from outside.
The willow branch, dripping with green and full of vitality, gently brushed the egg and then slowly withdrew, showing no further action.
Clearly, it showed little interest, as if it was merely a casual gesture.
The villagers, filled with awe, took a long time to calm down.
"Chief, should we keep this egg?" Shi Linhu asked. The villagers were now excited, their hearts burning with desire. It would be a pity to miss such a miraculous egg.
"Didn't you see that fierce bird outside the village? If we keep it, it will surely go mad," Shi Yunfeng said, frowning.
The old willow tree was mysterious and powerful, always guarding the village and preventing beasts from causing destruction. It was its domain. However, it only defended and never ventured beyond the village, let alone took the initiative to attack.
The Azure-scaled Eagle did not dare to enter, but simply blocking the exit would cause enough trouble for the villagers, as they still needed to hunt in the mountains.
"Forget it. Let's return the egg to that featherless giant eagle," an elder said.
The villagers were disappointed but had no other choice. The Azure-scaled Eagle was too powerful, the top predator of the area. As long as no creatures from the deepest part of the mountains emerged, it was the ruler.
With caution and care, the group, protected by the two ancestral relics, delivered the three bird eggs to the village entrance, placed them on the grass, and quickly retreated.
At this point, the mutated egg’s blazing light had dimmed, no longer as dazzling, but the newly added mysterious patterns remained. Compared to the other two eggs, it was clearly a different category, belonging to another type of bird.
The Azure-scaled Eagle flapped its wings, turning into a stormy wind, and swiftly swooped down. With a flap, it protected the three eggs and carefully scrutinized the particularly patterned, shining egg.
With a long, enthusiastic cry, the fierce bird seemed extremely excited. Its voice split the sky, causing the giant trees to tremble and leaves to scatter wildly.
After a long time, it lifted its head, showing a strange look in its eyes. The fierce light had long faded, focusing on the old willow tree within the village, but it did not dare to step into the village.
"Quick, take the eggs and go," someone shouted, as if chasing away a plague.
To everyone’s surprise, the Azure-scaled Eagle flapped its wings and, with a powerful thrust, sent the three eggs into the village, rolling towards the large willow tree.
"What? It doesn't want them? It's giving them to us?" The villagers were dumbfounded. Another strange event had occurred.
"It saw that one of the eggs had mutated, with intricate patterns, and will likely be much more powerful than it in the future. It wants to leave it to our village’s spirit to raise," Chief Shi Yunfeng explained.
"Can it really think that way?" Everyone was astonished.
"Don't forget, this is a fierce bird with mysterious symbols condensed within, possessing a source bone overflowing with mysterious power. Its intelligence should not be lower than that of humans," said the old elder.
The more powerful the fierce bird or beast, the higher its intelligence. Legends say that some ancient creatures were much smarter than humans, looking down upon human tribes as if they were gods.
The chief asked loudly whether it truly wanted to leave its offspring here. The Azure-scaled Eagle nodded in response, then gestured with its eyes towards the three eggs and the old willow tree.
With a whoosh, the Azure-scaled Eagle, with wings spread to fifteen or sixteen meters, soared into the sky and disappeared into the clouds in the blink of an eye.
The villagers were left in stunned silence, and the ground was left with three crystalline eggs. No one expected things to end this way.
"Uncle Linhu, what should we do next?" asked the second strongman.
"What to do? You caused this mess, so you little brats are responsible for incubating the eggs," Shi Linhu scolded.
"Ah, no, help!" The children screamed in terror.
The three eggs were placed next to the altar under the large willow tree, with designated people assigned to guard them, waiting for the chicks to hatch. After all, these were powerful bird eggs, extremely valuable.
Days later, with a crisp crack, one of the eggs showed a fissure. The jade-like shell split open, revealing a little creature with glowing green scales.
Soon, another egg cracked open, releasing a similar little creature, which peeked around with bright eyes.
The third egg was special. As it cracked, it first emitted rays of light, and then with a cry, the hard shell shattered completely, turning into powder, with divine radiance shining brightly.
A chick appeared, not covered in green scales but purple ones, glowing like flames. It was much more extraordinary than its two siblings.
After a long time, the purple light subsided. The remarkable chick, covered in dazzling purple scales, with sparkling eyes that seemed to speak, curiously looked at everyone. Anyone could tell this was an exceptional spirit bird.
"It's hatched!" The children cheered and ran home to fetch meat chunks to feed the three chicks.
Suddenly, a long cry came from above as a huge fierce bird swooped down from the clouds, rapidly approaching the village and casting a large shadow.
"Eh, after disappearing for over half a month, the Azure-scaled Eagle has returned. Could it be that it regrets and wants to reclaim its offspring?" a villager exclaimed.
"No, that's not it," people were shocked and looked on in surprise.
With a loud crash, dust rose outside the village as the Azure-scaled Eagle released its massive claws, letting a giant creature fall to the ground, creating a large pit and sending debris flying.
It was a massive dragon-horned elephant, measuring six or seven meters in length and five or six meters in height. Its pair of enormous dragon horns gleamed with a precious light. It was so heavy that it had crushed several towering ancient trees. At this point, it was already dead, its head, larger than a grinding millstone, marked with claw holes, from which blood flowed in torrents, having been struck down with a single blow.
“What is the Azure-scaled Eagle trying to do? Is it expecting us to use this to feed the three chicks? It seems almost human-like, with such high intelligence,” the villagers marveled.
With a whoosh, a fierce wind whipped up, scattering a multitude of broken branches and leaves. The Azure-scaled Eagle soared into the sky once again.
