A group of people rushed toward the depths of the mountains. The Suanni (a mythical lion-like creature) had exhausted its lifespan and died, meaning its true blood and precious bones would become unclaimed treasures. How could this not excite them?
"Hurry, we’re too slow!" Shi Lihu and the others were anxious, fearing they would be too late and others would beat them to it.
Majestic peaks rose one after another, with endless forests and astonishingly large ancient trees. The crowns of these trees reached into the sky, some towering over a thousand meters, overshadowing the mountains. Some vines, thick enough that several adults could not encircle them, coiled around the mountains like ancient dragons.
The people of Stone Village ran wildly, approaching the place where the Suanni had fallen. They felt an oppressive, terrifying aura emanating from the death of the beast king.
"It's so quiet," people remarked, feeling uneasy. The area was too silent, like a land of death.
Not even a single bird or animal was present. Not even ants or insects could be seen; they had all burrowed into their nests, making the forest eerily silent.
"Before dying, the Suanni killed many fierce beasts, disturbing the wilderness. All the birds and beasts here have fled," said Shi Lihu.
"No, something’s wrong," Chief Shi Yunfeng suddenly felt alarmed and urgently said, "Lihu, don’t rush. The Suanni’s body is extremely rare and valuable. Not only do we want it, but some fierce beasts might also be eyeing it. We should retreat and not act rashly."
He sensed a wave of danger, as if some prehistoric beasts were approaching from afar, their cold eyes fixed on this area. The old chief’s spine tingled, and he ordered his people to retreat.
The Little One felt the same way, his hairs standing on end, and he clenched his small fists. Shi Hao voiced his concerns as well.
They quickly dashed away, avoiding the collapsed stone mountain.
"Giving up like this feels so frustrating," Shi Feijiao said, pounding his chest in frustration.
"Don't rush. Wait for an opportunity. Life is the most important. Even if the Suanni's true blood is extraordinary and its leftover treasures are heavenly, we must survive to claim them," Shi Yunfeng said seriously.
They left as quickly as they came, climbing a high mountain to observe from a distance, closely watching the situation.
From three directions, groups of people emerged, each from different villages, all with the same goal: to dig out the Suanni’s corpse from the collapsed stone mountain.
"Indeed, it’s not just our clan that learned about the Suanni’s impending death. All those living near this wilderness are paying attention."
The three groups confronted each other, and as expected, conflict erupted, with cries of battle echoing through the forest.
"Roar!"
Suddenly, five huge beasts appeared, each as large as a house, baring their snowy white fangs as they lunged at the groups, also seeking the Suanni’s body.
At the same time, long cries came from the sky as several fierce birds swooped down. Each was five or six meters long, with wingspans of over ten meters. They dived down and tore apart six or seven people on the spot, blood staining the ground.
The blood-soaked scene was terrifying not just for those experiencing it firsthand but also for the distant observers from Stone Village, who felt their hair stand on end. The fierce birds and beasts had returned, bringing disaster.
"Roar!"
Indeed, roars of beasts echoed through the mountains. The fierce birds and beasts, previously scared away by the Suanni, had returned, now fighting for its corpse to enhance their own strength.
Not just in this forest, but even in the distant mountains, all powerful creatures were on the move. The cries of birds and beasts filled the air, causing the entire mountain range to boil with activity.
A beast uprising had begun. Beasts of all sizes, from dozens of meters to a few meters, appeared in an instant, forming a tide that roared and charged forward.
The sky was equally chaotic, with various birds flying, their iron beaks and sharp claws gleaming. They swooped down madly towards the mountain, their scales and feathers swirling in the air.
"Run!"
The people from the three villages left forty corpses behind and jumped into a river to escape, using the waterway to flee. Otherwise, none of them would have survived.
On the mountain peak, the people of Stone Village watched with pale faces. They had anticipated some fierce beasts might come to compete for the Suanni’s body but hadn’t expected so many.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, there were screams from those who thought they were safe in the water. A massive snake, tens of meters long, rolled over, opening its blood-red mouth and swallowing four or five people in one gulp.
"Crack!"
Elsewhere, a golden crocodile, over ten meters long, surfaced, its enormous jaws snapping shut on five or six people. Blood flowed, dripping from its sharp white teeth, staining the river red.
The scene was chilling to the bone, causing the survivors to flee desperately, not daring to stop for a moment.
"It’s so terrifying. Luckily, we retreated in time, or we’d have ended up like them," Shi Lihu said, drenched in cold sweat.
"It seems the Suanni’s body is even more precious than we imagined. Otherwise, why would these beasts and birds be so desperate?" Shi Feijiao said.
In front of the collapsed stone mountain, hundreds of fierce beasts and birds frantically attacked, trying to unearth the Suanni’s body. They fought each other, the air thick with the stench of blood and the sounds of roars and screeches.
"There are too many fierce beasts. We’re not safe here either; we might get caught up in the chaos," an elder warned.
"Roar!"
As soon as he spoke, a strong wind blew, and two massive creatures appeared, each seven or eight meters long, covered in brown fur, with fierce looks and wings on their sides.
They were terrifyingly fierce beasts known as Biao, and there were two of them.
Biao were abandoned by mother tigers due to their strange appearance, left to starve or be eaten by other mountain beasts. If any survived and grew up, they became incredibly ferocious, devouring all kinds of wild animals.
Now, two Biao had appeared, far more vicious than ordinary beasts and difficult to deal with.
With a gust of wind, one of the Biao moved, swooping down and biting two villagers. With a crunch, half of one person’s body fell, blood gushing out, a gruesome sight.
"Shi Lin!"
"A Yun!"
Cries of anguish and anger erupted from the villagers, who shot iron arrows like rain.
The attack was sudden. The fierce Biao could fly and were seven or eight meters long. Their unexpected appearance caused a bloody massacre.
"Beast!"
Shi Lihu and Shi Feijiao roared, wielding broad swords and leading a group of strong men to charge at the fierce Biao.
Although these creatures had not formed primitive runes in their bones, their physical strength was formidable and terrifying, their combat power astonishing. During hunts, villagers always tried to avoid encountering them.
"Roar!"
The other Biao roared, lunging from the other side. Its claw, gleaming coldly, struck, causing sparks to fly and weapons to be flung away.
Two people who were a bit slower in dodging were disemboweled on the spot, blood spilling everywhere. They suffered unimaginable injuries and were dragged to the rear by the villagers.
"Big cat, give me back Uncle A-Yun's life!" Shi Hao shouted angrily, rushing forward. Symbols glimmered on his arms, like stars lighting up between his fingers. Then a silver moon appeared.
This moon was incredibly real, like a divine moon falling from the heavens, its sacred brilliance rapidly striking at one of the fierce Biao.
"Clang!"
The Biao swung its massive paw, which gleamed coldly, and struck the silver moon, producing a metallic ring that made the entire mountain shake.
The silver moon was powerful enough to split giant rocks, yet the Biao had met it head-on with its claws.
After a brief stalemate, the Biao let out an earth-shattering roar as its paw finally snapped off, blood gushing out and staining the ground.
At the same time, the silver moon didn't lose its momentum and sliced into the Biao's head, creating a huge crack and a horrifying wound that spurted blood.
The beast roared to the heavens, shaking the forest. The fierce Biao thrashed about violently, but its ferocity gradually dimmed from its eyes, and it collapsed into a pool of blood with a thunderous crash.
This was the treasured skill of the Azure-scaled Eagle clan, with terrifying attack power. With one strike, Shi Hao had felled a fearsome Biao.
"Good job, Little One! Do it again!" Shi Feijiao shouted.
Shi Hao turned and rushed toward the other Biao, his palm glowing once more. The formidable skill of the Azure-scaled Eagle clan displayed its might again. The silver moon slashed across, and blood spurted from the neck of the seven to eight-meter-long Biao. With a twist of the silver light, its head was cleanly severed, tumbling to the ground with a thud.
The giant beast's blood sprayed like a river, drenching many villagers.
"What a terrifying skill!"
This method of attack was truly awe-inspiring.
After killing the two fierce Biao, Little One stood there, stunned. It was his first time killing such a beast in the forest. He looked down at his own small, tender hands and couldn't speak for a long time.
"It's okay, child. Don't be troubled by the blood. Every boy who grows up in the wilderness gets blood on their hands," Shi Lihu said, coming over and patting his shoulder.
Shi Hao nodded vigorously. Although he felt unsettled, he kept his mouth shut. If he hadn't killed the Biao, many villagers would have died or been injured.
"Skills are really powerful. They can kill fierce beasts and save people. If only we could get the Suanni's original symbols," Little One whispered to himself after a long while.
From the clouds came a long cry, and an Azure-scaled Eagle appeared, diving down and bringing a gust of wind with it.
Little One jumped up, waved his hand forcefully, and shouted, "Auntie Azure-scaled Eagle, take me up there! You are the overlord of the forest's edge, and I can help too. Let's go together to seize the Suanni's body!"
